How to watch the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics
(Pocket-lint) - While the Tokyo Olympics may feel like it happened a lifetime ago, it has actually been less than six months. If like us, you're itching for more Olympic action already, the good news is that there's not long to wait at all. In fact, this is the first time in history that the two events have happened so close together.
The biggest winter sporting event in the world is upon us - and it's all going down this year in Beijing. Athletes from 95 nations will travel to the country to compete in the ice and snow, as the world watches them battle it out for their shot at the Olympic gold. There are a number of easy methods for watching the Winter Olympics in both the UK and US.
Here's how to get started:
When are the Winter Olympics?
The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China, taking place from February 4 to February 20. The opening ceremony starts at 12 pm GMT / 7 am EST on February 4. The closing ceremony takes place on February 20.
How to watch Winter Olympics in the US
NBCUniversal is the US rights holder for the 2022 Winter Olympics, this means all the games will air on NBCUniversal channels such as NBC, NBCSN and the NBC Olympics Channel. The NBC Olympic schedule can be found here. If you prefer to watch online, here's how that works this year.
Peacock subscribers will gain access to daily news shows, Olympics channels, highlights and full-event replays. Peacock has a free tier that gives access to a limited library of content but, unfortunately, all Winter Olympics related content will be restricted to the Premium packages. Peacock Premium offers two tiers - Premium at £5.99 per month and Premium Plus at £9.99 per month.
Both grant access to the same content but the Premium Plus tier offers ad-free viewing.
How to watch Winter Olympics in the UK
Both the BBC and Eurosport will be broadcasting coverage of the events. The BBC will be airing select events and highlights across BBC TV channels whereas Eurosport channels will be broadcasting every event on live TV. Eurosport is available on Sky and Virgin Media TV packages.
There's also plenty of online options for cable cutters.
The BBC will have its events and highlights available on iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and mobile app. Eurosport will have every event available to be viewed via the Eurosport and Discovery+ apps. The Discovery+ app costs GBP6.99 per month and Eurosport Player is available as an add on to your Amazon Prime Video subscription also for GBP6.99 per month.
